April 2008 Conference: Sharing Christ in a Diverse Society - Ray Porter

Sunday, 27th April 20084:30pm7:30pm

Crossing Cultures - on our Doorstep

In our Churches around Beds and Herts we are mindful that different cultures are not just in remote parts of the world, but on our doorsteps.
Ray Porter is Director of World Mission Studies at Oak Hill College. We've asked Ray to speak about the challenges presented by different cultures to the way in which the gospel is presented. He will explain something of how he trains people through Oak Hill for mission around the world today, but he will also help us to be better equipped for mission in the increasingly diverse and changing culture of modern Britain.

The Oak Hill website tells us:
“Ray's major ministries have been in two blocks of fourteen years with OMF: one in Indonesia where he pastored and established churches, and the other as a Regional Director in the UK where he has recruited and encouraged missionaries and mission support. Shorter slots have been as minister of a UK church and as New Testament lecturer at Belfast Bible College. He studied Mission at All Nations and has managed to accumulate eight years studying theology in Oxford. He is the only Oak Hill faculty member who preaches in and has publications in Indonesian.”
